Eco Grief
Join Dr. Peter Carter, Paul Beckwith and Regina Valdez as they discuss the topic of Eco Grief, the feeling of deep sorrow that many of us experience when we learn about what’s happening to our planet and the living beings who call this Earth their home.
This video was recorded on October 17th, 2022, and published on November 13th, 2022.
Some of the topics discussed:
- How at a spiritual and physical level we are connected to everything and thus what we are doing to Earth, to other animals, we are also doing to ourselves.
- How the harm that we’re doing to the Earth causes great, great harm to our collective psyche. We’re destroying our oceans and the living beings that call the oceans home. We have to do much to heal ourselves and recognize that grief that we turn a blind eye to so that we can accept the harm that we’ve done and work assiduously to undo it as soon as possible and as much as possible.
- The expertise of Margaret Klein Salamon in this area of Eco Grief.
- How life is collapsing all around us and how a large proportion of our society is able to block that out. But the younger people are particularly vulnerable, of course, because they’re getting the message, number one, that people, our society doesn’t care about their future and that people don’t care about them.
- How many young activists like Greta felt the grief and when she understood the scale of everything she stopped talking and went to bed and couldn’t eat. But she pulled herself up and out and how this is what we hope for everyone, because that is what we need.
- How the consequences of drought or torrential rains, which lead to floods and how the place where you’re living, our home can be completely wiped out. How you don’t have to move to feel homesick and how this is a fairly new phenomenon and it’s hitting large numbers of people.
- and much more. . .
